It’s not that I’m so smart, it’s just that I stay with problems longer.”

About the Teacher
CLASS: Advanced Mathematics 5 to 8
SCHOOL PHONE: 882-8077 ex 221

I earned a Bachelor’s Degree  with a major in Math and Science and a minor in Education.  I have two Master’s Degrees – both in educational fields.  I have taken additional post graduate courses in areas that are related to education.  Over the years I have worked in public, private, and parochial schools.   I have taught almost every level from preschool to college. During my career I have taught children across the spectrum from special needs to exceptional.  But of all, middle school math is my favorite.

This Year
The 2015-2016 school term marks my fourteenth year at Saint Ann’s School.  In June, we said goodbye to eight students who are moving on to high school and two students who moved. In September we welcome thirteen new students to the program.

The Advanced Math Program continues to be located in the former first floor writing lab. Thanks to the generosity of the PTA, the room has white boards that are large enough for the entire class to work at the board at the same time. I can easily monitor individual progress and have seen that over time this often leads to students helping one another in the learning process. This demonstrates an understanding of the matter without formal testing.

Mission For The Class

Since math is an integral part of everyday life, no matter what career we choose, it is important to make math meaningful to real life.  The beauty of math is that there are many paths that lead to a solution that works. All students can do math and can often even have fun while doing it.
